Item 1: Story
THE ANT AND THE DOVE
THE ANT AND THE DOVE
One hot day, an ant was searching for some water. After
walking around for
some time, she came to a spring.
To reach the spring, she had to climb up a blade of grass.
While making her
way up, she slipped and fell into the water.
She could have drowned if a dove up a nearby tree had not
seen her. Seeing
that the ant was in trouble, the dove quickly plucked off a
leaf and dropped it
into the water near the struggling ant. The ant moved
towards the leaf and
climbed up there. Soon it carried her safely to dry ground.
Just at that time, a hunter nearby was throwing out his net
towards the dove,
hoping to trap it.
Guessing what he was about to do, the ant quickly bit him on
the heel. Feeling
the pain, the hunter dropped his net. The dove was quick to
fly away to safety.

Item 3: Song
Those were the days
Once
upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And dreamed of all the great things we would do
**Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern
We'd smile at one another and we'd say
**Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Just tonight I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me?
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And dreamed of all the great things we would do
**Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern
We'd smile at one another and we'd say
**Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Just tonight I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me?
Repeat**
Through the door there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same
Repeat**
Rhetorical devices:
-
Rhyme: friend-
end- dance, day- way, choose- lose
-
Repetition: Chorus (Those
were the days my friend... have our way)
-
A rhetorical question: Was
that lonely woman really me?
Message:
Everybody also have a youth time which only exists in a
moment .When it is over, whether sweet or bitter, happiness or sorrow, they use all the
lifetime to recall and regret it. Therefore, whenever you are tired of your
busy work, look behind and you will realise that “What is a meaningful and
unforgettable memory!”
Hi Ngoc and Long, in my opinion, the message we receive from the picture should be" Everything is possible for those who have tried best to overcome difficulties". Because, you see, to go go the end of tunnel, we have to go, to do a lot to reach there. therefore, it's related to belief, but it's effort. :>
Trả lờiXóaI agree with your Ha. I think the effort should be mentioned in your message because the hope and believe maynot be main sectors to creat the sucess. It's exactly the effort!
Trả lờiXóaIm sorry but i do not agree with you and Ha that the effort should be mentioned in this message. In my view, this cartoon only concentrates on the light not the process to the end of tunnel or sectors to create sucess. The cartoon encourage us in hope and belief so there is no need to mention the effort here. Just my opinion. Thanks
XóaI think the moral lesson of your 1st item should be "The grateful heart will always find opportunities to show its gratitude" and I agree with Long about the message for the picture.
Trả lờiXóahi, Ngoc. i think you do well in this entry.good work.:) you just notice how to show the message in item 2 more exactly. cheers
