Entry 2 _ Nguyễn Mạnh Cường

Item 1: picture
Image

- Stereotype
- Analysis: The picture expresses negative attitude of monkeys toward the one tending to climb the ladder though they don’t know climbing the ladder is right or wrong. This action of monkeys in this image is used to criticize who take a side with majority and treat someone bad while they don’t know who treated bad are guilty or not.
Item 2: A story
Mr Galloway, who is the Respect party MP for Bradford West, had been speaking in the debate organised by Christ Church college in favour of the motion: “Israel should withdraw immediately from the West Bank”.
Around three minutes into the speech given by his opponent, Eylon Aslan-Levy, Galloway interrupted asking: “You said we. Are you an Israeli?”
The third year student Aslan-Levy answered “I am, yes.”
Galloway then stood up and replied: “I don’t debate with Israelis, I’ve been misled, sorry.”
Mr Galloway then left the lecture theatre.
- Discrimination (Racism)
- Analysis: It is clear that Mr. Galloway boycotts Israelis and has aggressive manner toward them. He lets them down. Obviously, there is a bias toward Israelis. The action of Mr.Galloway is accused of racial discrimination.
Item 3: picture
Image

- Discrimination ( Sexism)
- Analysis: There are many comments of guests in the wedding but we notice the last two comments : ” At least, they are not homosexual” and “Anyway, it is the traditional wedding”. The comments show that many people make homophobia. They suppose that homosexuality is unacceptable. There is definitely prejudice toward “the third word”.
